New Year - New Techniques
Posted on 08 January 2018
It's finally the New Year. The frantic holiday knitting is over and now is the time to start a new project for you, and learn a new technique or skill. Colorful projects are everywhere this winter and now is the time to add colorwork to your knitting toolbox.
If you are new to working with two yarns at once, Mosaic is a wonderful place to start your colorwork adventure. We are huge fans of the Tincture Hat by Drea Renee Knits and have a gorgeous sample in the shop for you to see and try on. Plus we have a fun Mosaic and Lace Cowl class if you want a little help the first time you tackle this fun technique.
Brioche is one of the hot techniques right now, and everywhere we look we see new patterns featuring this technique. The Brioche stitch creates a fabric that is warm and squishy and we love the gorgeous dimension added with two-color brioche. We currently have three samples in the shop ranging from simple rib cowl to a more complicated flat shawl, and we know we can find a brioche pattern that will inspire you to take the Brioche plunge. Be sure to check out the two fun Brioche classes on the calendar for expert help getting you going with fun technique.
We are also seeing loads of colorwork sweaters this winter, and several people on the Knotty staff are knitting the gorgeous Sunset Highway sweater. If you are ready for a colorwork challenge, come in and let us help you find the perfect color combination for your own Sunset Highway we promise you will love knitting this sweater as much as you enjoy knitting it.
Don't let our gray Oregon winter get you down, stop by the shop today and let us help you find a fun new technique and the perfect color to brighten up your knitting!
