This class will guide the advanced beginner knitter to knit personalized fingerless mitts using the knitter’s own hand circumference, preferred thumb gusset and hand length. With this knowledge, the knitter can create fingerless mitts as gifts for the whole family. The class will include a variety of ways to: create a schematic, cast on, use different stitch patterns, and increase for the thumb gusset.
Cost: $40 for one, 2-hour session. You will go home with a mitts pattern that is customized just for you!
Required Skills: The knitter should know how to knit/purl and knit in the round (using preferred small circumference knitting) and bind off.
-at least 250 yards of dk or worsted weight yarn
-corresponding needles (in two sizes)
-a tape measure
-a washed and dried 4 X 4 gauge swatch
-and calculator to class.
There will be a worksheet recipe included in the class that each student will work from and spare worksheets to take home. Students may bring pattern ideas from previous projects (ex: cabled sweaters) to duplicate matching mitts.
You may bring your own materials to class or if you wish to purchase prior to the start of the first class, you will receive a 20% discount on materials.
