I am dreaming of Alaska with cool nights, bright stars on a clear night and spruce trees laden with snow! The Alaska sweater is an ideal pullover for our fall season! This three-part 2-hour long class is perfect for the beginner to advanced sweater knitter.

The pattern features top-down, seamless construction, raglan shaping with no short rows, and two-color stranding (fair isle) on the bottom of the sweater and sleeves. This is completed quickly on a fast tweed DK yarn.

While the sweater design is cropped and has 3/4" length sleeves, it is easily customizable for more length where you want it. You can add more room (ease) if you prefer as well. If stranding is not your thing, you can eliminate it.

Take this three-part class on Sundays (October 30th, November 6th and November 20th from 12:30-2:30pm) and you'll have your sweater finished and ready to wear during the holidays. Maybe there will even be snow!!

Pre-class homework:
Please bring a washed and dried gauge swatch to the first class. See the pattern for gauge details.

**Knitters must purchase their own pattern, Alaska Sweater, have the necessary yarn wound, and bring accompanying needles and gauge swatch to the first class.**

Cost: $75 for three, 2-hour sessions

Required Skills: Students must be able to cast on, knit, purl, bind off and be familiar with small circumference knitting and knitting in the round (dpn's, circulars, magic loop). In addition, if stranding the sweater, knitters must have completed at least one stranded project. It is assumed the knitter is familiar with two-color stranding. All other techniques will be taught in class.

Required Materials:

Suggested yarn - DK weight yarn as follows:
  • Main color : (640, 700, 800, 900, 1050, 1200, 1400, 1700) yds
  • Contrasting color : (170, 190, 210, 230, 240, 260, 275, 330] yds
Please visit pattern page for more information.

Note: To achieve the "snowy" look, it is recommended that knitters purchase a DK tweedy looking yarn. Lamb Good Fibers Tweed DK is an excellent choice.
