Brioche Basics - Saturday, Aug 15, 12:30-2:30pm
Ready to add a new dimension to your knitting? Brioche is a unique technique that creates a thick, squishy, and beautifully reversible ribbed fabric. It's the perfect way to make your projects look high-end and luxurious. In this two-hour workshop, you'll learn all the fundamentals you need to unlock the art of brioche and build a solid foundation.
In this class, you will learn to:
• Master the essential brioche stitches, brk (brioche knit), brp (brioche purl), and sl1yo (slip one yarn over): which form the basis of all brioche patterns.
• Confidently follow written brioche instructions and understand the unique notation used in brioche patterns.
• Manage multiple colors with ease as you knit your first two-color brioche rib swatch.
This is a fantastic first step into the world of brioche. The skills you learn in this class are the building blocks for countless future projects, including scarves, hats, cowls, and more.
Cost: $45 for one, 2-hour session
Skill Level: Advanced beginner knitter. You should be comfortable with knitting, purling, yarn overs, and following a pattern from a written set of instructions.
Required Materials*:
◦ US7 (4.5 mm) circular needles or DPNs. (Note: This technique does not work on straight needles.)
◦ Worsted-weight yarn in two highly contrasting solid colors.
During class, you will receive a comprehensive handout covering all the stitches and techniques taught in class, complete with photo tutorials to help you continue practicing at home.
