Ladderback Jacquard - Sun, Oct 25, 2-4pm
Do you love knitting colorwork but hate catching those long floats? Explore the art of Ladderback Jacquard. Unlock the secrets to flawless stranded colorwork, with this
ingenious technique that transforms those long pesky floats, that travel across the back of your work, into a structured, ladder-like mesh. Resulting in a cleaner, more polished finish with no snagging, no show-through, and a fabric that lies beautifully flat.
By the end of class you will have the confidence to tackle any colorwork project and how to identify what to add in this wondrous technique.
Cost: $50 for one 2-hour session.
Required Skills:
Advanced Beginner with knowledge of colorwork knitting (comfortable knitting and purling in the round, increasing and decreasing, reading knitting instructions and colorwork charts).
Pre-Class Homework: There is no pre-class homework for this class.
Required Materials:
- US8/5 mm needle 32”/80 cm circular needle (for magic loop) or DPNs
- Worsted weight yarn, 2 colors with high contrast.
You will receive a handouts during class that include Ladderback Jacquard detailed information, instructions for the swatch we will create in class, and photo tutorials.
You may bring your own materials to class or if you wish to purchase prior to the start of the first class, you will receive a 10% discount on materials, excluding patterns.

Makenzie Alvarez (she/her), is a full-time knitwear designer (Hanks And Needles) in the Portland, Oregon area. I have a background in fine art and an admiration for architecture. I enjoy creating classic & engaging knitting patterns that are influenced by my love of the arts and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
